WHY ARE YOU SO HAPPY? BECAUSE I EAT SPICY FOOD!

published on 26/10/2024 Eating spicy foods is a pleasure that not everyone understands right away, but those who do often discover a world of flavor and… happiness! Spiciness isn’t a true flavor in itself; rather, it’s an experience that makes food more appetizing. Chili peppers stimulate the taste buds and elevate every dish, enhancing flavors and transforming a simple meal into an intense experience.

But there’s more. Consuming chili triggers a surprising reaction in our bodies: the brain interprets spiciness as a form of "pain," and to compensate, it releases endorphins—chemicals that make us feel good. Endorphins are also known as "happiness hormones" because they produce a sense of well-being and relaxation, similar to what we feel after some physical exercise.

And if, at first, spiciness seems like a challenge with symptoms like watery eyes, sweating, and a burning tongue, don’t be discouraged! It’s all about getting used to it. Over time, the taste buds adapt, reacting less intensely to the stimulation of chili. Essentially, the more spicy foods we consume, the more our bodies adjust, gradually raising the tolerance threshold until we can enjoy spiciness without too many “side effects.”

So, the next time someone asks you why you’re so happy, you can smile and respond, “Because I eat spicy food!”
