Today we present you with a special recipe that combines the tradition of limoncello with a unique spicy touch. Let's discover together how to prepare our Spicy Limoncello! Ingredients:
10 organic lemons
1 liter of pure alcohol 95%
1 liter of water
800 grams of sugar
2 drops of 101 Peperita lemon
Preparation:
Preparing the lemons:
Wash the lemons thoroughly in warm water to remove any impurities.
Dry them well and, using a peeler, peel the lemons, taking only the yellow part of the peel and avoiding the white part (albedo), which is bitter.
Maceration:
Place the lemon peels in a large glass jar.
Add the pure alcohol to the jar, ensuring that the peels are completely immersed.
Seal the jar tightly and let it macerate in the dark for at least 7 days. During this period, shake the jar once a day to mix the ingredients well.
Preparing the syrup:
After the maceration period, prepare the syrup by placing the water and sugar in a pot.
Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously until the sugar completely dissolves.
Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
Filtering and mixing:
Filter the alcohol with the lemon peels using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, discarding the peels.
Add the filtered alcohol to the cooled syrup.
Incorporate two drops of 101 Peperita lemon, stirring well to combine everything.
Bottling:
Pour the spicy limoncello into sterilized glass bottles.
Seal the bottles well and let the limoncello rest for at least a month in a cool, dark place to allow the flavors to blend perfectly.
Storage and serving:
Store the spicy limoncello in the refrigerator.
Serve the limoncello well chilled, ideal as a digestif after meals or as a pleasant refreshment on summer evenings.
