Today we present you with a special recipe that combines the tradition of limoncello with a unique spicy touch. Let's discover together how to prepare our Spicy Limoncello!
Ingredients:
  • 10 organic lemons
  • 1 liter of pure alcohol 95%
  • 1 liter of water
  • 800 grams of sugar
  • 2 drops of 101 Peperita lemon
Preparation:
  1. Preparing the lemons:
    • Wash the lemons thoroughly in warm water to remove any impurities.
    • Dry them well and, using a peeler, peel the lemons, taking only the yellow part of the peel and avoiding the white part (albedo), which is bitter.
  2. Maceration:
    • Place the lemon peels in a large glass jar.
    • Add the pure alcohol to the jar, ensuring that the peels are completely immersed.
    • Seal the jar tightly and let it macerate in the dark for at least 7 days. During this period, shake the jar once a day to mix the ingredients well.
  3. Preparing the syrup:
    • After the maceration period, prepare the syrup by placing the water and sugar in a pot.
    • Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously until the sugar completely dissolves.
    • Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
  4. Filtering and mixing:
    • Filter the alcohol with the lemon peels using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, discarding the peels.
    • Add the filtered alcohol to the cooled syrup.
    • Incorporate two drops of 101 Peperita lemon, stirring well to combine everything.
  5. Bottling:
    • Pour the spicy limoncello into sterilized glass bottles.
    • Seal the bottles well and let the limoncello rest for at least a month in a cool, dark place to allow the flavors to blend perfectly.
  6. Storage and serving:
    • Store the spicy limoncello in the refrigerator.
    • Serve the limoncello well chilled, ideal as a digestif after meals or as a pleasant refreshment on summer evenings.
