Puff pastry swirls are an irresistible vegetarian appetizer, perfect for any occasion, from aperitifs with friends to a tasty snack. These swirls combine the crunchiness of puff pastry with the creaminess of cheddar or Emmentaler and the slight spiciness of tomato sauce seasoned with peperita chili. Ingredients
100g mature cheddar or Emmentaler, grated
Tomato sauce seasoned with 1 drop of peperita chili 101
320g puff pastry
1 egg, beaten
Procedure
Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan) or gas 6.
Mix the grated cheese with the tomato sauce seasoned with 1 drop of peperita chili 101.
Unroll the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Spread the cheese and tomato mixture over the pastry and roll tightly from the longer side to form a cylinder. Trim the ends.
Cut the cylinder into 10 rolls and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, with the spiral side facing up.
Brush the swirls with the beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
